It is one vast flat river delta, and is thought to be the most vulnerable place on earth to rising sea levels and extreme weather caused by climate change. Tropical storm surges often bring salty water up over the embankments that enclose much of the coast, making farming impossible and pushing more and more people to emigrate to the capital Dhaka. For the 12 million people living in the metropolis. every day is a struggle just to stay alive. The constant activity revolves around the Buriganga river, that should be source of one of the main basic amenities that the city is missing: clean water. Relentless encroachments that prevents the free flow, dumping of industrial waste and waste of river passengers make the Buriganga water unusable for most purposes. A child labourer is sleeping inside the print shop where he works in Old Dhaka.
