Commuting Bangkok

As dawn breaks over suburban Bangkok, hundreds of thousands of commuters climb aboard canal and river boats for their daily trip into the city.Schoolgirls, office workers, Buddhist monks in saffron robes cram into ferries for passages downtown. The canals are grimy and carry a heavy odour of stagnant ponds and sewage, but they are, for many, the shortest and fastest routes across the city of about 10-12 million.
